Can I really have a pregnancy test through the Internet? Where do I put the specimen?
Well, not quite. Unfortunately pregnancy testing through the computer is still a thing of the future. But you can have the next best thing. A free pregnancy test at a private specialist’s office, without having to visit a clinic or a family practice physician.
How does the free pregnancy test work?
No appointment is needed. You come to the California Pregnancy Center Monday - Friday from 9 to 11:30 or 1PM to 4:30, give a urine sample, and get your results within five minutes.
What happens if the pregnancy test is positive?
You will be offered an opportunity to start prenatal care immediately. In most cases you will have an ultrasound the same day. This will enable the doctor to measure the size of your baby, and estimate your due date.
How much does it cost to start prenatal care?
The California Pregnancy Center accepts most insurance plans in Fresno. Your total out of pocket expense depends on the deductible and the co-pay, as indicated on your insurance card.
I have no medical insurance. Can I still get prenatal care?
Yes. Our staff will analyze your financial situation, and will identify a plan to suit your individual situation. Some of the available plans are completely free of charge; other, such as the AIM program, require a very low payment.
If I’m pregnant, will I get to see my baby on my first visit?
Yes. An ultrasound during the first visit is good medical care. It enables your doctor to get an accurate estimate of the age of your baby. It is also helps you with early bonding with the new life forming inside your body.
I don’t think I’m pregnant, and I don’t want to have a baby now. Do you provide birth control too?
Yes. We offer a full range of birth control options, including the pill, contraceptive injections, IUD, and sterilization.
I need birth control, but I have no insurance. How much would it cost?
Depending on your income, you may be eligible for a plan covering different methods of birth control for you. If you qualify, it would cost you nothing.
